Mission
In order to meet our goals the After-school & Summer Program offers a research-based curriculum in math and reading. There are a variety of groups and clubs, two state of the art computer labs, and we also offer a Robotics Program in association with Carnegie Mellon University. Our History MYDC developed as an outreach program of the church responding to the expressed needs of the community. From its earliest days, education -primarily reading and math- have been and remain at the core of its mission. Later, MYDC identified a need for a Charter School in the community. The School was approved by the Pittsburgh Public Schools in the spring of 1998 and the first class was enrolled in the fall of the same year. While established as a separate organization, the Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS) and MYDC are complimentary programs that work collaboratively under one roof. Today more than 200 children throughout the City of Pittsburgh, from Pre-K through 12th grade, attend the Training Wheels Nursery School, the After School program and Manchester Academic Charter School.
